HA, lol@"eclipse ramps"

Edit: After watching it:

• Vertex manipulation with ramps will give you errors, don't do it.
• That's not the proper way to make the ramps like in Eclipse, and chances are they will stick.

Also, in the two color ramps, why do you use two brushes of playerclip. You can do it with just one.

Maybe to show us that we must use playerclips on each site of the ramp.

But I have a question:
How do you make texture which go with the ramp, like in 10x_reloaded.

Do you mean where the texture pattern turns along with the brush itself?

This topic might be old, but I'm stuck using playerclips on my ramps.

So what I do when making ramps I start with a cube, I make it /\ by deleting the sides with the clipping tool. That way (starting from cube with equal measures) the surf slope percentage is good, you can't walk on it and won't fall off (-> to steep).

I then add multiple textures, also with clipping tool but I keep both cut parts.
That why I can colour my ramp etc.

But then for playerclip adding: I select the whole ramp (multiple brushes since i've been clipping it like a mad man for texturing).
I duplicate it and put it 1 or 2 units higher in the X or Y viewer. I then change the textures to playerclip.
BUT since there are many layers, the playerclip is like useless because it might still be sticky due to the multiple parts of the ramp.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

You do not duplicate the ramp you have cut up. That is a pretty stupid idea.

Instead, either make another clip over the top of the ramp, or, alternatively, duplicate the original ramp before you clip it to hell. It should be a single side of clip, covering the whole side of the ramp.

Yes, it would be stupid to do it the way you do it, and it would seem pointless.

But what with ramps that aren't in one piece, and I mean multiple ramps after another and slightly changed with ctrl + m to create turn or go up and down?
Each part a clip? what about surfing the ramp in the opposite direction then?

Your best bet there is to remake the ramp. Group the clip and the ramp together, then repeat the ctrl + m process.

When you make the original ramp section, before you think of rotating or moving it, create the entier thing, with the inside faces nodrawed, the play clip on top of it, and have everything at the slope you want. (I prefer a 4:5 slope, I think it is better for control. Steep ramps make me rage.)

I then tend to group everything but the clip together. then after that, group the clip and the other group together.

I am also not a big fan of manually changing angles by rotation or ctrl+m. I like to create a couple sizes of pre-fab circles, by using paste-special, then I can take bits of the arch out when I need them. I don't have to repeat the same processes over and over.
