How to never lose progress on a map again
« on: February 13, 2013, 09:27:09 PM »
  • Download Dropbox
Dropbox is a program that creates a folder on your computer and automatically uploads anything put in the folder to cloud storage. You can access this folder from any computer you have dropbox on and it's contents will automatically sync.
  • Create a folder in the dropbox folder called SourceSDK, and create a 'maps' and an 'autosaves' folder within the sourcesdk folder
  • Change the hammer vmf directory to the maps folder you created in dropbox(you can alternatively just put vmfs in the dropbox maps folder without changing the directory and load them out of dropbox)

  • Go to the general tab of options and change the time between autosaves to 1, amount of space to use for autosaves to whatever you want, number of map iterations to save to whatever you want, and change the autosave directory to the autosave folder in dropbox. You should also probably up the undo levels limit (number of times you can undo(I think)).

And that's it, everything will be saved and uploaded to dropbox automatically. No more excuses(jesuswashomeless)

Alternative: get into the habit of hitting Control+S every time you do something.
