what the hell do you guys mean jailless maps? I have been surfing since the beginning..the time where the only surf servers were greatriver, egypt, and raceway... and I have never seen a jailless map that got played for more than 90 seconds before a promt RTV. Im all for making more continuous maps and steering clear of skill surfs but jailless maps sound just as boring as skill surfs. Fuck no-falldamage that is stupid... but if you have any kind of a surf without a jail it makes interaction impossible and thus the single-player aspect of skill surf maps rears its ugly head again. Surf is fun because it is different from the normal game of Counterstrike Source; once you think you know everything about the game... BOOM you are hit with a whole new perspective of it. Be it surf maps or deathrun maps or bomb defuse maps or hostage rescue maps or fight yard maps or awp maps... the reason the game is fun is because while we are all having trouble accomplishing our goals and we can share our grief and experiences with others. 

A huge part of why surfing is fun is because surf maps have jails. Surf skill maps are wretched because they ruin the competitiveness of the game. Skill maps are not competitive... if you practice them enough in single player you can beat the map at the same time as every other career surfer can. CounterStrike Source  is not like that... you have to play WITH OTHER PLAYERS to become good.

Surfing is amazing because it combines the single player practice and repetitiveness with the randomness of surfing.


Everyone will have their own opinion on this.. but it is my opinion that there is no such thing as surfing without jails in the map. You might want to say: "You can have an awesome surf map without a jail and still have fun.". this is true, but it is in my opinion that a surf map is not a true surf map unless it has a jail. I think that jails are paramount to surf maps, and by jails I mean REAL jails, not timed jails that reward the player based on how many stupid and pointless levels of a horrible map they accomplished.

ok, is it possible to make this only work on a certain section of the map, e.g, the peak of the ramp
could i just put a trigger_something over the entier thing and tie it to something else? not very big with drilling al the entities in my head...

ya you use trigger _something or logic_auto.

Really...please read an ENTIRE thread before posting. 

You're post is completely useless in 3 ways:
1. What you quoted has already been figured out.
2. The solution in your post does not help, or get anyone anywhere whatsoever.
3. What you quoted was from nearly a year ago, 10 months to be exact.

And oh yeah, when that warning message comes up telling you that this thread has been inactive for xxx amount of days...listen to the damn message and think twice before posting.

This thread is from 2009, but you can remove the faling sound by editing your gamefiles. There is a prefab / tutorial on here somwhere, just look through the subforums. \

pack a wav into the map with the same name/directory spot as the falling sound(s) and make it a silent sound or something
